can you provide a more dumbed down example of what kinds of applications / use cases this tech could enable? would this be underlying tech for something like Thorswap?
Despite the good-natured fun at Sergey’s expense (expanse?), this is a real proposal for a real project.
I am not a Zenon Alien, more of an alien to the Zenon community, actually. I come here from my usual post in the Chainlink community at the request of a mutual friend who recently introduced me to Supernova. I know that the LINK community can be… overbearing. And I know Chainlink is extremely polarizing in the Blockchain world. But if you have not come to recognize the awesome potential of CCIP, you will soon.
I heard about Zenon years ago, but I had no real knowledge of the network. After spending some time researching, I have to say I am impressed. I don’t understand how this is still flying under the radar after all these years. In a time when a dozen projects are getting lauded for trying to replicate Ethereum, Zenon is trying to do something totally unique and not getting any attention. CCIP Integration can change that for you in three meaningful ways:
Connecting Zenon to outside data (other chains, or offchain data)
To answer @stark’s question - With CCIP you can circumvent something like Thorswap entirely (not to discredit Thorswap or any similar chainflip based dex) It enables seamless communication and interaction between different blockchains and networks.
I know that BTC atomic swaps are on your roadmap, but CCIP can ensure you a reliable interoperability layer while your own solution is developed. It can provide broader cross-chain communication to Zenon, providing access to a broader ecosystem of chains and assets that are already integrated
Liquidity
With CCIP, liquidity isn’t siloed on Ethereum—it’s interconnected across multiple blockchains. This removes fragmentation and ensures that Zenon’s users can access deep liquidity from various ecosystems.
Why expand the number of chains that ZNN is on when you can expand the number of assets that flow into Zenon’s ecosystem?
Exposure
Regardless of any preconceived notions you might have about Chainlink, it’s huge. A partnership with Chainlink could only benefit Zenon. I don’t say this to be insulting, but Zenon’s MCap and Volume are tragically low.
Let me be upfront—I cannot do all of this myself. I have contacts at Chainlink Labs that I will be relying on heavily to help get this validated for approval.

Will the 5k ZNN 50k QSR grant cover delivery of the full scope as outlined?
I want to remind the community that this stage of AZ is a proposal and that voting phase for payment comes later, after delivery.
The only cost at this point, is the time and energy required to assess the proposal. I have not seen any arguments to say that the delivery of the outlined scope would not be a net positive for Zenon, and worth the requested funds.
There is some question as to whether this proposal is a troll. I would rather err on approving the proposal phase, and then assess whether to approve or deny the payment phase, when the truth becomes self-evident.
It should, I anticipate price adjustment after announcing CCIP integration will make this AZ much more lucrative than it currently is. I have never used S Y R I U S before, but it seemed that this was the maximum possible funding grant acceptable.
Oh, this was no doubt a benevolent troll on Sergey… the caricature of him that has grown among the “LINK marines” transcends memery. I think of it as a humorous homage to the innovator. With regards to Zenon, I do not have a negative thing to say, and nothing to poke fun of.
This is a real project with tangible goals and outcomes. There will be many more chains integrating CCIP in the coming months from all over the crypto space.

In that case, I would say a half should go to the partnership/development phase the remainder to launch/outreach.
Realistically, getting onboarded with CL may be the most difficult hurdle here, even having friends there isn’t a guarantee, they aren’t just partnering with every chain that reaches out to them. There will be a full vetting process and integration analysis. I will need to distill all technical docs and slide decks into a cohesive pitch of the network. I will also need to work closely with the devs here during the development phases to ensure alignment and feasibility.
I will vote yes on the proposal assuming all steps are in scope + no phased fund release until partnership agreement is confirmed by chainlink labs. God Speed
